The Battle Bridge – TNG S1 E7 – Lonely Among Us
How many more times must the crew of the Enterprise D see their Captain acting funny before they decide to do something about it? Does he really have to beam out energy only before someone relieves him of duty?
Today James and Lou discuss Lonely Among Us to discuss these questions and much more as well as listener feedback.

Another fantastic podcast
It does seem that instead of establishing the character characteristics The TNG writing staff where obsessed with portraying the crew acting in a strange manner. As a new viewer I would imagine this was fairly confusing as you would not have been familiar with what ‘normal’ for the character is.
One of the best aspects of the podcast is you both sound like you are having a great time.

LikeDislikeIn what way is Jeri Ryan a vaccine for a nerd boner? You spelled it Jerry, so unless your referring to a man named Jerry, I think Jeri might have been more responsible for dna spillage then a crime scene tech with torrets. 🙂

LikeDislikeThat’s what. Mean her rack dedpenses of bonners
Yes I mean Jeri not Jerry
Can you get her on the show?

LikeDislikeI think the Delta Quadrant crew would stand a much better chance then I ever would. Have Gino send her a voice message in the way only his smooth voice could and she might respond to it.. 🙂

LikeDislikeHi Guys,
Just a quick note to say what a great job you’re doing – I was a bit late to start listening but I just went back and went through the first few episodes and had a great time listening to them. Keep up the good work, and maybe I’ll join you on a future show!
Also, your album art looks very nice. 😉

LikeDislikeDo or not, there is no trying. We will. Pick an episode for season one and you would be very welcome to come on and review it with us. Everyone is welcome to join us.
Yes the album art is great, couldn’t do a better job myself if I tried.. 😉

LikeDislikeGood review for yet another crappy episode.
Although I have the advantage of watching a lot of established Trek over the years the inconsistencies of the first season continue. I also wondered why/how these two species were being considered for membership into the Federation despite all the restrictions/requirements others must go through. We see these inconsistencies later in the first season when Wesely fails to get into the academy the first time because they could only select one candidate from each group of candidates. Did Nog go up against a bunch of Pakelids, Anticans and Selays when he applied? I love Nog btw, but these inconsistencies make it challenging to rewatch the first season based on what we know is coming in future seasons.
Great to see O’Brien again – boy does he look young!
I like the format of the podcast. Doing the feedback first reminds the listener what the last episode was, gives them a chance to hear others thoughts on it, and then puts it to bed and moves on to the next episode.
Good job.

LikeDislikeYou know whats funny is that O’Brien is one of my favorite characters. We can all relate to the working grunt. He may be the chief of operations in DS9, but in the end he still is the working grunt. He clocks a long day, he goes home and has this nagging bit…well anyway, barking at him about how she’s bored, lonely, yip yip yip…. I think O’Brien looks to work or Bashir as an escape from home life. I like him a lot. So having seen what I have just said about Kaiko and what I think about her, imagine when Data’s Day comes up.
Thank you for the compliments on the podcast. It’s a lot of fun. Right now we’re going through the get to know you stage both on the series and the podcast but when Season 2 comes along, or other seasons when we get to episodes like should we let Worf have experimental surgery or keep him under 24 hour watch so he can’t kill himself in Klingon tradition, those episodes with that kind of story should be gold for us. I’m so looking forward to the real moral questions. We do face one in Justice, not a big one, but still face one so look forward to that. 🙂 Shameless teaser there..

LikeDislikeJames mentioned your review of this episode on a forum thread for Ten Forward. I had completely forgotten about this episode. I vaguely remember the whole Anticans eating the Selay and vice versa plot line, but definitely do/did not remember the cloud/sizzle taking over the crew, which was supposed to be the A plot. That’s not good.
It’s nice to see O’Brien…and to know what an integral part of Trek he will become.
I enjoyed the interaction between you both.
