The Battle Bridge – TNG S1 E10 – Hide and Q
Hide and Q! Someone on the Enterprise gets the realization of “Impossible Dreams.” What are those dreams? Well they start with vicious animal things and work their way to a disaster that could have as many as 500+ victims but you wouldn’t believe how many it turned to be.

As always enjoyed the show and the discussion and while watching the episode of TNG in question before listening makes sense my own schedule and time allotted for doing such is always biased towards audio/podcast and I don’t want to wait:)

LikeDislikeAs much as I’m a Q fan I’d have to say that this is definitely the weakest Q episode in TNG, John De Lancie gives a great performance of course but as you said the episode is badly written and very clunky in places.
You talked about Q’s interest in humanity and I have a theory on this which I don’t think I’ve shared on a podcast and it starts from this episode and ends with “All Good Things”
In this episode Q tells Riker that maybe one day, eons from now humans may evolve even beyond the Q themselves, in All Good Things Q tells Picard that “he’ll find out” right at the end of the episode when Picard asks him about Q’s statement “that is the exploration that awaits you, not studying starts and mapping nebulae, but charting the unknown possibilities of existence”
Ok, so my theory is that the Q are so interested in humanity because the Q ARE humanity, eons from now and this is one of the reasons why Q refers to humanity as a “child race”
Anyway, great review, you guys are really finding your feet and have a great chemistry and balance, hit me up, I’m a huge TNG fan and I’m happy to appear whenever you’d like me to, even for a stinker of an episode

LikeDislikeThis is actually the way that I’ve always read the Q. They are humans – just our next stage in evolution.
This seems to be what Q is saying to Picard at the end of All Good Things…

LikeDislikeThis is only the 3rd worst Q episode which isn’t bad I guess. Also it was the least shown 1st season rerun which did make me stop and watch every time it came on. The title is obviously a play on the game Hide and Seek which is saying Q likes to play games but what game is he playing here? I am not really sure. Keep chugging along gents. A Dios.
